Student organizations

ASU allows recognized student organizations limited rights to use the logos and trademarks. For details about which spirit marks are available for student organization use, visit the Spirit marks webpage.

Registered student organizations may also use the geographical designations at Arizona State University or at ASU at the end of their organization names.
No student organizations may use Arizona State University, ASU or Arizona State before their organization name as this may imply an official endorsement by or relationship with ASU.
Sports clubs with an NCAA equivalent must have “club” in their name. For a complete and current list of active D1 sports, please reference Sun Devil Athletics.

Club guidelines

ASU student organization brand guidelines

✅ Student clubs may only use ASU university marks listed on this sheet.

✅ Student clubs may use "ASU", or "Arizona State University" (or any location on campus), but must use that name as a location (i.e student club at ASU).

✅ Student clubs may use Sun Devil, Sun Devils or Devils' in their club name.

🚫 Student clubs may not modify Sparky or his pitchfork.

🚫 Student clubs may not infringe on other outside intellectual property (i.e. no Star Wars knock off designs).

🚫 Student clubs may not use Sun Devil Bold font.

✅ Consistent use of name and group identity mark across all platforms is required. Only the approved version on the EOSS web page will be allowed.

✅ Student clubs must use a licensed vendor for all merchandise.

✅ Student Clubs must have both EOSS and Trademark and Licensing approval of names and identity marks before use.

Spirit marks

Below are the logos available to student clubs. Logo colorways must be used appropriately relating to background color.

Full-color

Full-color application of the spirit marks is preferred when possible. The following versions are provided to accommodate production quality across common background color variations.

Sparky

No modification may be made to Sparky, including changing his color, position, removing or adjusting the pitchfork, or embellishing the mascot with clothing.

Sparky's face

Not recommended for maroon backgrounds. Not recommended for black backgrounds. No modification may be made to Sparky, including changing his color, position, removing or adjusting the pitchfork, or embellishing the mascot with clothing.

Sparky's pitchfork

Full-color application of the spirit marks is preferred when possible. The following versions are provided to accommodate production quality across common background color variations.

Hand pitchfork

Any graphic that creates essentially the same commercial impression as this hand pitchfork is considered a registered mark that must carry the circle R (®). The hand must be shown in the same formation of the hand shown here.

One-color

When full color is not an option, the following single-color versions may be used. These should be reserved for production scenarios where full-color application is not feasible.

Find a licensed vendor

The licensed provider will submit the student organization's product design to the Trademark Licensing office for approval before manufacturing. Please allow time for this approval process.
Only ASU licensees can produce goods with ASU intellectual property which includes logos, wordmarks and inference to ASU.
To order merchandise using any University marks, your club must be registered with EOSS.
